sleuthing on my old photos+found this(1860’s) gem ws taken by a civil war confederate photog of new orleans—two stories on him: one where he ended up fighting in the mexican foreign legion after the civil war supporting the french + returning stateside an esteemed nola resident till his 1914 death. there’s another that claims he bcame a deserter, + bcame a part of the infamous wards raiders gang+ tht at 29 yrs old, he ws shot dead in a shootout trying 2 escape trial. both these men are listed as “tin type artists”, birth years/ place the same. .thats the prob w/common names i guess, which maybe means perhaps w/ a name like mine i shld b out there wreaking more havoc? anyhow i live 4 old tales like these#historygeek (Taken with Instagram)
