“in a statement he just released that he merely “misspoke” in the interview and doubled-down on his position that abortion in cases of rape is unacceptable.”
I was thinking abt my reproductive system a lot today, way b4 i even heard this bullshit news story. Thinking about it in terms of how lucky I am, and how many women in my line b4 me had 2 suffer so that I could be so lucky. So that I could have choice, freedom to say yes. freedom to say no.
I am the grand daughter of slave breeders, 1 of whom’s existence and story I have records of. I know her common name, her owners, her value, i know many children she had—( atleast) 25. I am the grand daughter of a woman who, thanks 2 archaic employment rules, died during a botched secret abortion in the south in the 1920’s. I have records of exactly how she died and where. I am the cousin of a woman that tried to drink a bottle of lye in the the late 1800’s 2 self abort because she had no way out of a horrific situation. I am the daughter of a woman child 2 young 2 fully understand her reproductive rights, forced by religious upbringing 2 bear child…. I am the cousin of a woman that, constantly lived under fear of going to jail, for providing family planning services 2 poor rural southern women, some of whom were rape victims, in the 70’s. I am the friend, sister, cousin, of rape victims. I am also a survivor. I am soooooooooooo fucking tired of the ways in which women throughout American history, have been forced 2 suffer through this bullshit based around shitty one way opinions on female reproductive rights, declared godly, by people who do not have fucking ovaries, bt yet were lucky enough to be un-forcibly born, in thanks partly, to a pair. You’d think ( in an ideal world) they’d be gracious enough 2 b more compassionate…
